Resumen:
The Mesopotamia region includes different climatic and geological areas and is a very important biodiversity centre, because its wetlands are important refugee for many species, resulting in a high concentration of wild life. It belongs to the Paraná – Uruguay Rivers Basin, which is the second in importance in South America, after the Amazonas, for its size, length of rivers and hydro discharge. The purpose of this work is to increase the knowledge on scaled chrysophytes (Chrysophyceae and Synurophyceae) from this area, which was initiated years ago with the study of the delta of Paraná River and Iberá regions. We analyzed the flora and the physico-chemical characters of ten sites located in the Uruguay River region. This new information was compared and analyzed with the results of studies mentioned above and studies realized in Tierra del Fuego, Río Negro and Neuquén. Applying Q and R mode cluster analysis a descriptive distribution model for species and sites was obtained. It shows the homogeneity of the area through the presence and absence of species and it points out the influence of Amazonian species of tropical distribution.
