Resumen:
Abstract End of 20th century stable topographic and climatic situation for different argentine water bodies are described. Prior to 1977 three important graphic databases (Paraná river, Río de la Plata, Vitel Laguna) are tabulated and reanalyzed for future comparisons. Hypothesis and predictions stated in 2002 related to climatic and topographic changes are confirmed with the description of three recent piranha attacks and to the Hypostomus sp. directional dispersal from Chascomús laguna to the SW. Since 2000 movements and recent changes in the ichthyofauna in the pampasic SW, old west zone, are collected and commented. Long and short term hypothesis include: warming, thermoclines deepening, extension of littoral zones, reduction in the number of pampasic lagunas but with an increase in their areas and a reduction of the Parana’s water flow. In each case the possible consequences upon the ichthyofauna are of low predictable value due to the diverse complexity of the variables involved.
