Resumen:
The palynological content of Cachipunco Formation is described in this contribution. This formation lies in the Santa Barbara Range, Jujuy Province, and outcrops at two localities: Angosto Los Pereyras y Cumbre los Pereyras. The more complete succession is the one from Angosto los Pereyras, where the formation comprises 273 meters of dark siltstones interstratified with thin sandstones and without visible base or top. The microfloristic associations are characterized, among others, by the presence of: Ammonidium sp. cf. A. waldronense (Tappan y Loeblich Jr.) Dorning, A. ludloviense (Lister) Dorning, Barbestiastra barbata (Downie) Sarjeant y Stancliffe, Diexallophasis denticulata (Stockmans & Willière) Loeblich, D. remota (Deunff) Playford, Domasia quadrispinosa Hill, Dorsennidum europaeum (Stockmans & Willièire) Sarjeant & Stancliffe, Duvernaysphaera aranaides (Cramer) Cramer & Díez, Eupoikilofusa filifera (Downie) Dorning, E. striatifera (Cramer) Cramer, E. sp. cf. E. tenuistriata (Pöthe de Baldis) Pöthe de Baldis, Gorgonisphaeridium sp. cf. G. succinum Lister, Leiofusa bernesgae Cramer, L. estrecha Cramer, L. exilata Dorning, L. parvitatis Loeblich, L. tumida Downie, Leiosphaeridia wenlockia (Downie), Micrhystridium sp. cf. M. stellatum Deflandre, Multiplicisphaeridium arbusculum Dorning, M. eoplancktonicum (Eisenack) Lister, M. sp. cf. M. jarillense Pöthe de Baldis, M. ramusculosum (Deflandre) Lister, M. variabile (Lister) Dorning, Neoveryhachium carminae Cramer, Onondagaella asymmetrica (Deunff) Cramer, Proteolobus cylindricus Al-Ruwaili, Salopidium sp. cf. S. granuliferum (Downie) Dorning, Tylotopalla maraca Rodríguez et al., Tylotopalla sp. cf. T. robustispinosa (Downie) Eisenack et al., Veryhachium trisphaeridium Downie, V. trispinosum (Eisenack) Stockman & Willière, and Ambitisporites avitus Hoffmeister. A new species is proposed Multiplicisphaeridium baldisii sp. nov. According to the stratigraphic distribution of the identified species, the age of the Cachipunco Formation can be constrained to a Wenlockian-Ludlovian range.
