Resumen:
MORPHOLOGICAL STUDY OF THE GENUS CLASSOPOLLIS (PFLUG) POCOCK & JANSONIUS(CRETACEOUS, ARGENTINA). The present paper analyses different species belonging to the genus Classopollis (Pfl ug)Pocock & Jansonius with scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The material was collected from surface sections and boreholesof Cretaceous age located in Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. The 615 specimens were grouped in 12 different species of whichthree are new and nine taxa are mentioned for the fi rst time in Argentina [C. bussoni Reyre, C. caratinii Reyre, C. chateaunoviReyre, C. kieseri Reyre, C. noeli Reyre, C. pujoli Reyre, C. quezeli Reyre, C. rarus Reyre and C. triangulus (Zhang) Lei].A key for identifi cation of the different taxa using SEM is also presented. The presence of Classopollis is constant throughoutthe Mesozoic of Argentina, especially in Cretaceous and Jurassic strata.
