Resumen:
A new genus of Stipeae (Poaceae), Amelichloa, is described. Differential characters are given. There are five species in the genus: A. ambigua, A. brachychaeta, A. brevipes, A. caudata and A. clandestina. The first four species are native to South America while A. clandestina is native to Northern of Mexico. A key to species is provided. the name honors Dr. M.A. Torres.
