Abstract: High doses of sulfadiazine (SDZ), used in synergistic combination with pyrimethamine, are mainly responsible for severe side effects and discontinuation of toxoplasmosis treatments. As part of our previous search for new strategies conducing to improve the efficacy of treatments by employing low doses of SDZ, we have determined citotxicity, cell damage, uptake rate, as well as biodistribution and pharmacokinetics of dendrimeric-SDZ on healthy rats.
