Resumen:
The purpose of this work was to evaluate the behavior and performance of rat hepatocytes subjected to: a) cold preservation in University of Wisconsin solution (UW), 0 °C, 72 hr, or b) subzero non-freezing preservation in UW + 1,4 butanediol, -4 °C, 120 hr, in a hollow fiber based minibioreactor functioning as experimental bioartificial liver device. To do this, the mass balance of an ammonium load was determinate after 2 hr of perfusion in the minibioreactor containing freshly isolated or preserved hepatocytes. Also, the evolution of hepatocytes viability during the perfusion was measured.
