Resumen:
Mutual Information (MI) is useful for determining covariation between positions in a Multiple Sequence Alignment (MSA). Mutual information derived scores can be useful for determining structural contacts and functional sites on proteins [1,2]. There are a lot of tools for estimating MI and derived scores from a MSA [3,4]. Although, it is difficult to find tools in high level programming languages, easy to use and modify, with good performance. Julia is a new programming language for scientific computing, easy coding with a close to C performance [5]. MIToS (Mutual Information Tools for protein Sequences) is an environment for Mutual Information (MI) analysis and implements several useful tools for Multiple Sequence Alignments (MSAs) and PDB structures management in Julia language.
