Resumen:
In recent years biopolymers have been visualized as potential environmentally friendly and sustainable alternatives to petroleum based plastics, particularly in those applications where biodegradability and derivatization of natural resources gives added value (martucci & Ruseckaite 2009PDS). Gelatin is an animal protein with good film – forming properties appropriate for the production of bio-packaging. However, the excellent properties of gelatin based films against gases are counterbalanced with their poor moisture resistance (martucci & Ruseckaite 2009 JAPS). In the first part we described the improvement of such property by laminating gelatin with polylactic acid (biopol). The main objective of this part was to evaluate the biodegradability of the novel three layer films during indoor soil burial experiments.
