Resumen:
Thermoplastic polymers such as HDPE are nowadays widely used as lining materials for oil and gas pipelines. However, during maintenance or unexpected service stoppages, these liners can undergo external pressure induced bucking collapse. The objective of this work to assess the mechanical response of HDPE liners undergoing buckling collapse at different temperatures. To accomplish this, a short-term buckling test device was developed. Furthermore, Finite Element Modeling (FEM) simulations on Abaqus 6.10 with an advanced constitutive model, namely the Three Network Model (TNM) was employed. This numerical model, was then validated with experimental buckling collapse data
