Resumen:
Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) films nanoreinforced with hydrolyzed cellulose nanocrystal (NC) and bacterial cellulose (BC) was prepared by solvent casting. Different nanoparticles content were used (2, 4 and 6 wt% for NC and 2% for BC). NC nanocomposites presented higher dispersion and the formation of a percolation network, improving transparency, mechanical and barrier properties of the films. On the other hand, reduced thermal stability and brittleness increment was yielded by BC addition. Nanocomposites performance variation is mainly caused by the marked difference of nanoparticles sizes. This work shows the analyses carried out to obtain and compare PHB-nanocellulose bionanocomposite determining thermal, barrier and mechanical properties. It was demonstrated that PHB-NC films exhibited higher performance enhancement without detrimental effect of the PHB properties.
