Resumen:
The influence ofdefect on fatigue resistance of components is analyzed out by using apropagation threshold approach to estimate the high cycle fatigue resistance ofcomponents from data of intrinsic properties of the material. The fatigueresistance is study by using fracture mechanics approaches and the Chapetti´sthreshold curve for fatigue crack propagation which includes the short crackregime. The approach accounts for the effective driving force applied to thecrack as the difference between the total driving force applied to thecomponent, DK, and the threshold for fatigue crackpropagation of the material of the component, DKth,both as a function of crack length. Applications to the analysis of the fatigueresistance of notched components and their fatigue sensitivity to defects arepresented
