Resumen:
Prussian Blue nanoparticles synthetized and adsorbed onto gamma-Al2O3 spheres were tested as Fenton heterogeneous catalysts. Prepared catalysts were characterized by SEM, EDS and sorptometry. The catalytic activity and stability for oxidation of the model azo dye Orange G were investigated in terms of discolouration, TOC conversion and pH evolution. The effect of initial pH and hydrogen peroxide concentration was addressed. At pH0=3, the presence of H2O2 enhances discolouration rate, but negatively affects the TOC conversion, whereas at pH0=6 the presence of H2O2 does practically not influence the oxidation performance. The catalyst exhibits a moderate and rather progressive loss of activity during each 5h cycle, which could not be attributed to leaching since it occurs in very low extent.
