Resumen:
There are various methods to fabricate metal nanoparticles such as wet chemical reduction, γ-irradiation method, laser irradiation technique, sonochemical method, microwave/VFM technique and UV-activation technique/photochemical reduction. An alternative approach for these synthesis methods is photosensitization. This method uses photoactive reagents that generate the intermediates by photo irradiation. The intermediates reduce the co-existing metal source to form the M0. The advantage of photosensitization is the fast and efficient formation of metal NPs. Flexibility of the excitation wavelength is an additional benefit because it does not depend on the metal source, but the sensitizer. Besides, photochemical approach provides the advantages of reproducibility, versatility, selectivity and ability of synthesis at large scale. The present study was carried out in order to explore the possibility of using novel photoinitiators to prepare silver nanoparticles.
