Resumen:
Bentonite nanoclays were used to modify an epoxy ? amine system based on diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) and triethylenetetramine (TETA). Bentonite was used as received and was also modified with tributyl(hexadecyl)phosphonium bromide. The effect of the neat and modified nanoclays incorporation in the epoxy ? amine kinetics was studied by means of modulated DSC (MDSC) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. A phenomenological model was employed in order to understand the effect of the species chemistry in the reaction mechanisms. Both, the bentonite and the bentonite´s modifier were found to alter the epoxy ? amine kinetics. The influence of the hydroxyl groups in the system´s catalysis was discussed.
