Resumen:
The physicochemical and microstructural characterization of five types post-mortem aluminosilicate refractories from a steel plant, have been investigated in order to achieve their incorporation to the manufacture of ceramic masonry for using in the construction industry. The chemical and mineralogical composition of residues were determined by energy dispersive X-ray and X-ray diffraction (XRD), respectively. Also, sieve analysis, particle size distribution, optical microscopy (OM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) were carried out. The results showed that all of the studied wastes have adequate characteristics to be used as ceramic raw materials.
