Resumen:
Green polyurethane low-density foams based on a polyol derived from tung oil and using water as foaming agent were prepared and characterized. Addition of 10 wt% etilenglycol was necessary in order to reduce the initial viscosity of the reactive mixture.Fumed silica was used as inorganic load, to reduce the foam flammability and to increase the mechanical properties, but these properties were still not measured. Preliminary results indicated that even the addition of small amounts of silica leads to important changes in the foam properties, as fellows: increasing the foaming times, the thermal degradation rate and the char at 700 ºC, but reducing the polyurethane thermal transition temperatures.
