Resumen:
Hybrids of organic and inorganic polymers with domains on the nano-scale have numerous applications ranging from scratchresistant coatings to tough nano-composites to ceramic precursors. One popular way of synthesizing these materials is by hydrolysis of an organo silane in the presence of a polymerizing monomer or pre-formed polymer. Unfortunately this results in volatile by-products (usually an alcohol) which causes shrinkage during its evaporation, thus limiting the applications to thinfilms. In the present work we use a silane monomer, tetrakis(methacryloyloxy-ethoxy)silane or TetMESi, which hydrolyses to form polymerizable by-products
