Resumen:
Several strategies have been considered to prepare polymer layered silicate nanocomposites. We used exfoliation-adsorption (the layered silicate is exfoliated into single layers using a solvent in which the polymer is soluble) and melt intercalation (the layered silicate is mixed with the polymer matrix in the molten state). Two biodegradable  matrices were selected: Polycaprolactone (PCL, Mw =80000, Sigma-Aldrich) and MaterBi-Z (Starch-PCL blend, Novamont). Three different nanoreinforcements were used: Cloisite Na+, Closite 30B and Cloisite 10A (Southern Clay Products). Reinforcement contents were in the range of 1 to 10 wt.%. In the case of exfoliation-adsorption process, two different solvents were used and several ultrasonic bath times were analyzed. The aim of this work was to obtain and characterizenanocomposites based on biodegradable polymers.
