Resumen:
The addition of inorganic nanoparticles to block copolymers (BC) is a potential route for the fabrication of novel functional materials such as photonic band gap materials, highly efficient catalysts, chemical and biological sensors, and high-density magnetic storage media. The domain structure of BC provides a template within which the inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) can be organized. NPs with an inorganic core can be synthesized in solution using polymeric ligands that bind to the particle surfaces at areal ligand densities that sterically stabilize the particles against aggregation and coalescence. Such core-shell particles in solution can be combined with a BC, permitting coassembly of the BC and polymer-coated NPs into films. In this work we assembled PSSH-coated Au NPs into PS-b-PMMA films and studied the effects of ligand molecular weight and thermal annealing on the final morphologies of the nanocomposites (location, size and shape of NPs dispersed in the block copolymer).
